My blog is created to share my tropical plant growing experience. If I can't live in Hawaii, maybe I can grow a bit of Hawaii in Northern Virginia. Wish me luck.

Gardenia bloom
The gardenia gods are on my side. I lucked out and actually got a bloom to open. Woo hoo! I think what really helped was the moisture meter. Without that I'm sure I'd have been to wet or to dry. Let's hope for many more blooms. This one smells terrific.

Hey there,
Great site. I live in NoVA, too, and also like tropical plants. I'm in Del Ray. Where are you?
I'm a little further south near Mt Vernon. Being near the Potomac river is a little boost for zone creep. Makes growing tropicals a little easier. It's about time to get planting.
